im sorry to tell you but there is not nor has there ever been a tangerine pundamillia, there has never been one collected in the wild if such a thing exist it is probabally a monster that some dr. frankinstien created thrugh hybridenazation or line breeding, to make a buck, they may look nice but if you cannot get a firm positive id, backed scientificaly with confirmation by others whom have breed that species out for several generations than i would by no means spawn them and desperse them among the hobby, there are too many hybrids out there as it is.

after looking at the pictures you sent he may be a sp red flank but he lacks the turquoise in the dorsal and in the head.
if you can get a positive id from a well respected vic authority as a red flank, keep him and get some more, and breed em out for a couple generatyions and see if the traits remain consistant.
what did you say it was sold as? keep in mind that that dealer if i rember correctly makes a habit of selling mis id fish.

Sorry if I came off as rude in my last post a little bit ago, I typed it quickly from my phone.

The dealer does have some mislabeled fish on their website. If I were to do it over again I wouldnt have purchased from that dealer, althought there are some fish from them that look very very nice.

The fish was sold as a "Tangerine Neyerei" which obviously doesnt exist. The picture from their website (on the front page) appears to be an igombe variant but my fish obviously doesnt look like and igombe or any other variant I've seen. At one point I thought maybe it looked kinda like a sp. red flank, but that was just wishful thinking. I can only assume its some sort of hybrid, but I like him and he looks nice in my all male tank.

I would never breed fish unless I was sure that they were not hybrids.

Thanks... I'll not buy any more fish from that guy, besides, he doesn't answer the phone anyway.. I could have a female, but he or she is a very nice fish. Always follows me around the tank.. I'm out of town now. I'll send the picture soon. Thanks..

I will try to take a shot of my dominant male. His pelvic fins are a very dark navy blue. He's quite spectacular, that is if he will hold still.

The male you have is looking good, he should color up with a female or put him in an environment where he is the dominant fish in the tank.

Thanks. When he gets really colored up he just gets a little more red and he shows his black stripes. I like the way he looks but I am pretty certain at this point that he is a hybrid.
