Looks like I may have a male from the color of the pictures. I assume your first picture is a female.. Here's my..

Geo

Ps. Can someone try calling livefishdirect.com and see if they answer?? Not sure why none of my calls were answered??

I also think that being alone in the tank, the fish will not color up. I'll be getting a 125gl soon, and would hope to get a female, except no one else has the same type. (Hybrid or not, that's the question)

if the above fish was sold as a nyereri, thats crazy. and if they came from the same as the other pictured in this thread and were called the same thing....? they are two totaly diffrent species, the one pictured above, to me doesnt even look like a pundamillia species. pundamillia species are very beautiful, and interbreed rather easily,
im not trying to offend you, but that looks more along the lines of a weak strain of sp.44and maybe rock krib hybrid.

i have never dealt with them but i wold ask tyo see a video of the parents. my money says they will run for the hills.

Yeah thats a male. All my pictures are of the same fish and mine is a male, I am not sure what you are referring to about the first picture being a female.

I would not breed that fish, it is most certainly a hybrid.

If you contact livefishdirect.com they will just get defensive and call you a liar, at least thats what they did to me.

I think his fish is the same as mine, It just isnt colored up. I can faintly see the same red and green pattern.

if you can get them to respond and any decent dealer would i would still ask fro a video of the parents, why a video this way they cant take a picture on the web and callit thier own, if they didnt breed the species than if its mis id to begin with chances are very very slim that it would be a pure species.

That's too bad...:(:( He's selling these fish right now at aquabid.com under Victorias.. He claims he's in business over 20 years, and even has a video of his place.. Like I said, He will not respond to my calls. I have not spoken to him since I placed my order 2 months ago..

Not the best photo, but I had this beauty for several years before it ended up with a swim bladder issue and died. I suspected it was a nyererei, but it wasn't marked as anything but Victorian sp. cichlid when I bought it.

Loved this fish
