I love Purigen! It is awesome, I have a big bag and a small bag in my 75. This way I always have it in the tank so that water parameters don't change when I have to recharge or forget about recharging it, or leave it in the bleach solution for several days because I recharge in a sink in another room.

Soooo...........you dont have to boil the concoction????.............seems pretty easy then i might have to p/u some.........:)

It's pretty easy, just don't use slime products like stress coat, that screws up the media and you can't recharge it.

I was thinking its time to recharge 2 weld bags full of Purigen that i have under my wetdry tray! The stuff is very awesome imo! I wanted to ask if someone had any tips on recharging purigen. Do you use real laundry chlorine bleach and do you keep it in the weld filter bag during recharge? I would hate to mess it up and kill my fish after recherging!

I just use the generic bleach. Don't use the fresh flower scent stuff.

So i mix half bleach and half water in a tuberware and soak the purigen and bag in bleach for 24 hours then let it soak in a tub with water and prime for 24 hours then after prime to soak the stuff another 4 hours in a tub with the discus buffer and then the stuff is ready to go another 6 months? I always have just tossed it and bought a new jar its 39.99 for 1 lb at my lfs, but recharging sounds like a good idea since i have so much of it, i am actually going to recharge about 2 LBS of it this time so i want to make sure its going to be tight! Thanks everybody, hope i am not derailing this thread!

You don't need the buffer, unless you are using SW or you have fish very sensitive to minor pH change. Most users don't use buffer.

Thanks man, i saw some good pics when i did a search on purigen, so i am going for it!

Glad to hear we have another Purigen promoter!
