Putting tanks in Bedroom...is it bad?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First,I don't think there would be any health benefits or detriments from having a tank in your bedroom.
Second, what are the harmful affects supposed to be?

I wouldn't do it man, I know a dude who put a tank in his room and BOOM herpes. So yah, it's a bad idea.

LOL He pick up KHV (Koi Herpes Virus)?

I can imagine he means humidity, also but, since when has a litlte humidity been something to fear?

When it causes mold and other unsanitary conditions...this is a frequent problem in LFS, imagine sleeping there too...

We really don't know, but one poster mentioned the tranquil sound of flowing water improving one's sleep quality and the extra humidity also being of some assitance, healthwise. Those are minor benefits and even debatable, but logical and reasonable. Now, if you're sleeping in a room with 10 tanks, that's another issue . . . I was thinking along the lines of one tank in a bedroom.

i think its good having a tank in the bedroom. i cant fall asleep now if i cant hear a filter going though. its kind of a necessity for me now.

Yes, humidity.. My family members always complain my room having this stinking smell from the tank even though I do a weekly tank maintenance..

If any bad odor is noticed there's something wrong and you need to find out what it is. Tanks shouldn't ever have a bad smell to them. (Well...except for broccoli night in the Plec tank-man that stuff stinks).

I agree. None of my tanks stink. You can smell the certain "watery" smell, but it's not a stinking odor. It's the same smell that you get when you go to your local fish store, but only to a much lesser degree. I don't have that many tanks.

That's the smell I was talking about.. the exact 'fish smell' when taking a fish out of a tank.. Just that it's conspicuous when I close the doors & windows in my bedroom..

I live in a one bedroom apartment with a 120gal and a 30gal. The only thing I ever smell is my two ferrets. Smelly little buggers they can be too.

If you had a lid on the tank wouldn't the minimize the moisture or smell or whatever?
