Putting together a 600 gallon

Great update! Any details on the stand build? Can you keep us posted on how long it takes the reactor to fully cycle and stabilize?

Have you got the tank up to temperature yet? 800 watts is ok but I would recommend more wattage. Just wondering if you see the temp change a good bit on your tank or if it is staying constant.

I will post up some pictures of the stand when I get home.
As for the reactor I am not going to let this tank cycle on its own so I won't be able to give an answer on that. I am pretty much relocating all the media from my other tank and moving everyone over with the media. Been thru this process 3 times with no problems

The tank was run on 800 watts by the previous owner with no problems. My garage is insulated, drywalled, and heated. Had this setup for 5 years and spent all those winters out there building rcairplanes. I know it is capable of maintaining 80+. As for the wattage not being enough I would say otherwise. The pumps are submersible so they themselves generate their own heat as water passes thru them. 800 should be fine. My 330 had one 300 watt heater in the sump and hardly ever turned on as the two submersible pumps did a great job heating the water.

If the garage is heated then That's different. Glad you have thought it all out that well. I have 1200 Watts for my tank just in case I really need to turn up the heat for ich or something.

Also forgot to mention that I will be putting an Apex AquaContoller on the tank to be able to monitor it plus once everything is done will be adding my camera system to be able to watch everything while I am not at home. Yes I know I don't have a life. ROFLMAO:banghead:

Reed here are a few pics of the stand on the 600 and the 330 from COOLMBU. He did an amazing job on them both. When the 330 gets taken down this weekend I will get some better shots of it as they are built very similar to each other.

The easiest way I can explain it is the top of the stand is 4 pieces of 2x6 put together to make a frame. 3/4" plywood on top of that with foam for the tank. 6 more 2x6's run the length of the tank with 4 making a beam down the very center.

The sides on the stands are 3 layers thick of 2x6's with each layer taking the load of the tank differently and distributing the weight of the tank over a greater surface area on the floor. The outer most layer takes the perimeter of the tops 2x6's.

The next 2 layers in takes the 2x6's running the length of the tank underneath the 3/4" plywood top.

That is on the 330 much easier to see.
The 600 is built a little more sturdy on the ends. Not that the 330 is week, the stand never even made a sound when it was filled. Same with the 600 and I sat there the whole time while it filled up. More in the next post.

Here are shots from underneath the 600. Keep in mind these stands do weigh more then the tank themselves. But I trust both enough to get underneath them.

The back between the overflows and overflows to the end of the tank are the metal supports you see in the second picture.

More pictures coming of the bio-reactor.
