Pvc hiding spot

IMHO terra cotta looks the best. Some ceramic pots look good too. PVC looks awful. If it's just a breeder tank in a fish room, whatever, but I can't see putting PVC in a display tank.

I had a small betta tank with white sand and i used a white pvc connector piece as a hiding spot for my betta. My betta liked it and the white pvc looked good with the sand.

I don't like the look of pvc either. The tank is too small for me to build him something. So I did my best with the pvc to where it wasn't such an eye sore. My other tanks don't have pvc. He just needed a cave.

I use white PVC in my tank for my eels, i just hide them under plants etc... I would guess if it was clear they may not actually be as tempted to use it, due to them possibly not feeling secure inside a clear tube???
I agree, anything clear for a hide-space is not a hide-space. The animal will not see it as cover or structure and it will not provide it with a sense of security. Stick to white or colored. I don't know if I like the idea of submerging spray-paint in my aquairium either, it could leach toxins into the water. Clay or Terra cota flower pots would be a good choice as well and they also oxygenate the water for a period of time after submerging

Has anybody ever used clear pvc for a hiding spot? Right now I have two 18" white pvc pipes for my eel, but it doesn't look all that great. I like the idea of the clear pvc, but I'm not too sure If the eel would use them if they were clear.
Clear tubes work with electro sensory fish such as black ghosts, elephant noses etc as it blocks electrical signals and thus the fish feels safe. I'm not sure it will work for other knives, eels and other nocturnal fish as they tend to hide from light primarily.

Split bamboo comes in all sizes and makes a much more natural looking cave.
Pvc pipes are fine for fish houses and breeding tanks but they look awful in display tanks.
