I didn't think it was a red because of its color. It looks solid black compared to its other 2 tankmates. Not even the same fins

its red, the color could be caused by genetic, age, substrate, mood, etc...possible it's getting ready to breed.
few pix I found online by searching rbp.

when you say turn into p tanks, are you using the glass to make bigger tanks?

No. Mainly grow out tanks for a while. Like 3 fish in each. I will eventually get a 150ish tank. When I find one in good shape for a good price. I have a 55 gallon that's busted that I thought about making a 48x48x18 out of around march. Dunno what that'd make it. 150ish? Where I work we make coolers for like grocery stores etc... I'm calling my plant manager today to see if we have ne rejects in storage they wanna get rid of. If that goes threw then I have big future plans. Its something that can maintain temp. 3 to 5 inches of foam insulation. I will turn one into a lab. And try some selective breeding projects to see what I can get. Would take a lot of time but the end result might be worth it. But that's all up n the air. I was HOPING 3 p's would be comfortable in a 50 gallon breeder (36x18x18) and a 55 (48x12x18). If not let me know and ill turn down dudes offer. I'm trading a 130 gallon glass aquarium that's scratched all to hell and possibly still leaks with a stand for a complete 50 gallon setup. Stand hood lights heater filtration etc.. and a 55 gallon with 300 watt heater and pumps but has no hood or stand. Not scratched.

yeah, you can safely do that, i've done it myself. you could possibly even get a year out of 5 if you keep up on feeding. you sound like you have a sound plan. are you wanting to go with reds or a different pygo?

Well you seen the video I was talking about. I love the black p. I guess its a red altho I've not seen many like that. If I couldm id breed rhoms. But I don't have the $ to waste trying. The ONLY way I see that happening is. Take a big ass greenhouse and make a big ass pond inside it. 100 feet long and 10 feet wide and 4 feet deep I would say would be good enough. And stick 2 in there and hope ones male and ones female and that there is enough territory for each. Then MAYBE. So for me a species is still questionable. Manueli is cool too but I haven't read up on em like rhoms. I believe jp read my article about breeding rhoms a long while back. What would u suggest?
