what he said. lol, if reds are more readily available, i'd go with those. If you don't mind the lil bit of extra dough, caribe and piyaras if they can be hunted down are great also. pretty much the exact same care as red bellies. Rhoms are pretty and a great show piece if you can find something you like. You do the poor man route like me and it'll take forever. I swear i've had this rhom for 6 months and it's only put on 2 inches.
reds will probably get darker as they age but you're still looking at a 5+ year old fish unless you just bought them already full grown to see their colors. mine are all probably between 6-8 inches and even though they're darker then most people i see on here...they're no where near as dark as the ones in those pics and vids...even with black substrate and background
