Also my first snake, born on the fourth if july, a one year old, 37" Burmese Python:

The second snake I touched in my life.

He is small for his age, though my LRS said its a Bivittatus.
I trust them on that, and I like him. Big or small.

Ah 17', thats 5+ meter. Nice.

I was a little reserved posting my latest addition, but thanks you all.

He ate three mice since his arrival, and just now I handled him he was a lot stronger.
He slept a couple of days, so I think hes rested now.
And active. Wauw.

Yesterday I was at my LRS and asked for five mice.
Couldn't suppress a squeal seeing ten little live red eyes looking back at me. Five live mice? Too much!
So I took one.
Gave him a little cage with some rabbit food and a tiny cup of water.
Fed him later the same day.

And saw a genuine strangling, and a drink afterwards. Wauw.

Right now Im typing this Im seeing my Tegu eating his first (formerly frozen) mouse.
He he. Took him long. Bit spoiled I guess.
Dunno what hes doing. Rough eater, kinda Crocodile like head shakes.
Also wauw.

Anyway, here some pics of the terrarium of my Burmese Python, called Bir:

Placed it high in my livingroom. Gotta stand on the couch to see.
And thats exactly what Ive been doing last days.
Reason for the high place are the winters here in Holland.
And even in summertime nights can be chilly. For me and my herps!
Inside his vivarium an inhuman humidity. I almost like it.
Ill keep you posted on his development.

Hi, I like your snake but I dont recomend feeding him live. I know a case in wich a ADULT male burmese weakned and ultimatly died because of a rat bite in its eye. Besides the risks for the snake, it also presents risks for you, your snake can become much more agressive when it sences you aproaching and that is something you really dont want in species so large and powerfull. There is no reason to feed him live, burmese pythons have huge apetites, tawed will more then sufice. Also this guys grow very fast, you will need frequent feedings of adult rabits in a near future, not a good thing if your snake only eats live.

Haha! NO, that wouldnt be fine.
My Python is kinda small for his age, and I couldnt provoke an entire
strangling with defrozen mice.
Then I got five life by accident and there and then made the decision
to try one and see how my Python would cope.
He did well.
But frozen mice is more animal friendly. Although I really have to take
care to never accidentally kill any live goods, otherwise all would be for
noppadenada.
My freezer is entirely for my animals (gotta get me one too, some day),
and Ive got pinkies, little, medium, and large mice, on stock.
And I believe you when youre talkig about severe injuries, or even death,
because of live food.

Hassie is the word for keeping life mice to feed.
From now on:
Im feeding frozen.
