Ok Mr. Knowitall,
If you know where I got my fish from day 1, then why didn't you pull my card on your last post? Because you can't. I got these fish from a private collector who I am not going to reveal, but I can tell you guys the collection points of these fish. All of these fish came from Guatemala, the trimacs came out of Ocosito river near Caballo Blanco, RTM's came out of the Motagua river near El progresso. I have no more to speak about this matter

I hate to wade into these arguments and inflame them, but why in the world would you not want to "reveal" the "private collector" unless there isn't one --- especially after the beating you've taken so far on this topic?

You can claim anything you want about collection points. Anyone could say the same by checking wholesale stock lists, fishbase.org, or any other of the many internet sources. Absent the name of the "private collector" I'm afraid you haven't done anything but further inflame the dubious nature or your position.

I suspect your source is the same one that is providing so many "wild" pond-raised fish to the hobby already, but my suscipicion isn't based on any firmer ground than that which you've offered up to support your own claims.

Please identify the private collector.

So this private collector who remains nameless went to Lake Apoyo, Nicaragua and collected small Chanchos, then to El Progresso, Rio Motogua, Guatemala and collected RTM, west to Caballo Blanco on the Rio Ocosito, Guatemala for Trimacs, and finished up on the Rio Grande Chiapas, Mexico for Grammodes all within the last year and was gracious enough to let you have these fish to sell. Oh and it's not any of the people I know who do 90% of the collecting in this region, Hmmmm. Ken

This is not trying to sell my fish over someone else, I could care less. Anyone every here me say anything bad about Jeff Rapps? Nope!
It's this simple, there is no commerical fish collectors in these countries, you can not get small wild caught fish unless you collect them your self or know someone who did, I have been on 5 of the last 6 collecting trips to Honduras since 2004, Guess what Roc was not there. There was one collecting trip to Guatamala in 2007, most of the fish were conficated by US fish and Wildlife when they came back into the country because they did not have all the proper paperwork, I tried to get the fish back for them, but was not successful, I know all 4 people who went, guess what he was not there. The only place you can get wild RTM is the Rio Montague basin in southern Guatamala and northern Honduras. He has never been there and does not know anyone who has, I do. I can tell you every single time RTM were caught in the last 5 years, by whom and where they are now. And it's not in New England. No one has collected that region since May 2007 when we were last there, any wild RTM in the hobby are all 12" long by now. The only person in recent memory who has collected wild trimaculatum and grammodes was Dr. Michael Tobler last Feb and March in southern Mexico and they were all perserved for science. I saw Michael last weekend in Indianpolis, guess what, Roc was not there. I'm sure this guy has nice fish, I don't have a problem with him selling his fish, just calling fish wild caught when they were not. Every wild Central American fish in my hatchery has a specific collection location, I can tell you when they were caught and by whom. Roc whomever sold you these fish as wild caught, took you man. Ken
I collected my RTM "la bruja" in El Salvador. The two younger ones (out of 4, the large pair died) brought to me by my mom in december should be large enough to breed to my larger female Which was collected first. I'm not taking sides on this matter though. It seems odd that bigroc would not reveal his source..
