Ahh, that's terrible!!!!!! I bet that man who got arrested would have kept them alive and happy, but the darn feds who had no idea what the heck they were doing killed them!! I think animal rights needs to get involved, people suck!

GMAB, this guy was smuggling in 16 of them and he already had 4. He has been caught doing this before. He was doing it for profit, I wonder how many times he was able to successfully smuggle them in?

The fish are dead because of him.

I don't see the issue with importing farm-raised, micro-chipped fish...

Do you have any links to these progams or success stories. As asian aros have been banned for over 30 years and are still endangered.
I didn't mean aros I meant other endangered species that would be considered in the pet trade. I'm sure since they are breeding them in captivity that a program can be established based on Aros only.

give it up guys, asian aros are illegal and they will stay that way, thanks to modern day bureaucratic policies. you can sign all the petitions and rant on forums all day, its not gonna change a thing

Once again Cardona is quick to get to the point. So true...unfortunate, but true.

yeah man id love to see the day where these fish become legal and are bred in large quantities. but realistically speaking, we know that wont happen :( only options are to move out of the US or obtain them on the black market

It's amazing that the guy can get almost 3 years in jail for this. And I agree that it's ridiculous that the fish are illegal, as they are all farm raised, but is it really worth 3 years of your life?

Overall sad situation. And made even sadder that the fish died after making it that far :headshake

and you think the smuggler didnt have nothing but dollar signs in his eyes either? :screwy:

...and I suppose you wanted me to type in his whole life story as well? Just because I didn't comment about Mr. Chaw and how he had "dollar signs in his eyes" does not mean I didn't "think" to condone what he did. Go post your little screwball emote elsewhere buddy.

I doubt the guy going to get time, probably a crazy fine and his lawyer bill will be through the roof, can you imagine if he goes to jail and a inmate ask what are you here for and when he says smuggler and they say how many pounds did you have and he says 16 Arowana's
