Question about Metro + Focus and feeding.

2.8 mg is correct based on 25 mg per kg body weight at 0.25 pounds.
You can compare the dose you got from estimating the weight of the fish to what you get from "10 mg per 1 gram" food dose from the Journal of Aquaculture Research & Development.

"The recommended dose in ornamental fish [for metronidazole is] 10 mg per 1g fish food".
I happen to feed my 12" oscar 1 gram of dry food at each feeding, so he would get 10 mg metronidazole when fed 1 gram of medicated pellets. If you fed your 7" GT half that amount (0.5 grams) he would get ~5 mg metronidazole which is in line with 2.8 mg two times a day.
The included scoop weighs out 125 mg of medication so one scoop is more than enough metro for the entire treatment duration so be very careful about overdosing. There's about 45 doses in one scoop or measure.

You might end up having to mixing 10-15 mg of the meds with the equivalent of 4-5 meals, since I didn't really see anything smaller than a 10 mg spoon.
The problem (unless the meds come with a calibrated serving cup) is that "mg" is a weight calculation but the spoons are a volume tool. The same volume won't typically give you the same weight (sugar, flour and salt differ radically.) So you may end up converting the med scooper to the "tiny" spoon.

Almost all fish medications have the potential to be dangerous and/or toxic at high enough dosage rates, or if used excessively. It's been stated by at least one researcher that excessive use of metronidazole can cause organ damage in fish.

Again, what defines excessive. Without a number that statement is as good as useless to me.
I have no way of measuring such a small amount of metro effectively. Premixing the food is not going to work because moist algae disc fall apart very quickly.
Best I can do is eyeball an amount . I mixed 1 tablespoon of food with 1 scoop of metro as a test to see roughly how much ends up on each disc. I try to replicate this per feeding for 5 days and see how things go.
I don't really know what else to do.

You asked, I answered to the best of my ability, with what I know is the most current research available. When it comes to ornamental fish none of this information is going to be definitive, with your fish, or anyone else's. What might work for one species, or one fishes growth stage, or immune system, or-or-or, may prove to be a failure with another.
