Question for big dreamers:

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love big cats besides all the usual stuff I would not have an Arapaima but I would have a pseudoplatystoma corruscans I so want one of theses fish but getting to over 6’6” 2m(thats the biggest caught) no chance but with that bad boy put me down for one of them.

Id say pick a specific area of South America and try to replicate there enviroment and have only the fish of that enviroment in the tank. The get all the fish from the wild so its is like a real amazon.

Hey maybe add a croc or do they have caimen out there? whichever one is there. Oh and add a few snakes as well if possible just to recreate how they really live

Only good crocs in that area are Orinoco croc. There are roughly 300 left in the wild, an d4 major breeding farms down there. I've worked with them before, but they (or any croc) wouldn't do well in this setup. Besides, it's going to be viewed from a tunnel, so we'd only see their belly.

i've always thought of fish tanks like they are a tiny chunk out of nature..... i would go scoba dive SA, take as many under water pics and start from there. having a tank THAT big would sadden me to see it be a big cement cage with too many fish in it. go visit/talk to your local aquarium they have some beautiful displays, ask for tips on how they started their displays.

Fish are only part of a beautiful display of nature

He IS the local aquarium. :) www.SHARKY.TV

If I had a tank of that size and all those resources, why go for fish? Why not amazon river dolphins?

\Freshwater dolphins are a big NO. Dallas World's 200,000 gallon was actually designed for them, but political red tape stopped it. So far, any that have been brought into the US have died almost right away. I don't want that on my shoulders.

This 125,000 is not nearly big enough for them. It's a very odd shape, and wouldn't provide the horizontal room they need. Mammals create an entirely different problem as well: USDA permits. With fish, you don't fall under their watch. As soon as you bring mammals into the picture, the entire facility must be chagned to match their codes. It would turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

has to be S america? would divide it in 1/2. Aqauscape both sides to the hilt... fully planted, NATURAL LIGHT (sunlight frome skylights). One side would house large fish... anythin 12"+ up to Arapaima. School of Dorados.

other side would be fish from 1"- 6"... TONS tetras and stuff...
