* Question for Hardcore Aro owners!?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All of that looked cosmetic to me. If my aro got drop eye I would take it and not worry about it. The stuff they were doing looked unnecessary.

I wouldn't risk it. I would do surgery for gill curl or something meaningful that might affect the aro, but I wouldn't slice its fins.

I see no problem with it, if there were a simple procedure to correct DE I would do it.

I agree but would you guys say this procedure is simple?

it doesn't hurt them. they only cut the edge of the fins, where there are few to no nerves. the fish doesn't even struggle. it's almost like cutting yr nails or hair.

I would have to disagree with you on the pain reference....

Fish doesnt struggle because its sedated. :nilly:

pain, morals, cruelness who cares, cosmetics who cares. you paid for your fish. he should be happy hes not being cooked and eaten.
it looks like a very simple procedure. just think of it as a bad haircut and you gotta go bald.

There're alot of ppl doing comestic finage enlargement. Nowadays hobbyists want their aro to have big finages....

I will only cut or trim the finages if the fish require to correct it's problem like uneven grow back or broken hard ray to be removed so that the new ray will look better when it grow back out.

Personally, I did finage enlargement procedure on aros which some of my customers requested.

I did correction trimming on problem or damaged finages. Removing of damaged scale(s) on them and gill curl cutting. Sometime even barbel trimming to ensure a balance grow back.

The latest procedure I did is to remove the air trapped in the fish which causes the fish not able to sink and it keep floating on the water. This is one dangerous procedure which may damage the swim bladder if we're not careful on this.
