You need to specify your definition of weak. By your thoughts, you have a brute moron, or weak genius. Take your pick.

Okay, here is what I am talknig about when I mean weak. I'm saying if we were to take away modern conveniences and have to take up jobs such as manual cane cutting, etc not much people would cope.

I'm saying, when in comparison to the generations of old, this new generation, which I am apart of, is weak. I'm not talking mentally weak or anything, I'm talknig in terms of being able to do manual cane cutting and those sorts of jobs.

If you put me side by side to my great grandfather, and if we were somehow the same age, he'd be alot stronger than me. He'd be able to cope with labouring jobs far better than me, etc.

On the other side of the coin, put your great grandfather in front of a computer.

Times have changed. They will never be the same. 100 years from now we will be considered powerful with our ability to punch keys.

or we will be dead

The reason we teach history is to learn from it, not to recreate it.

and whats the the ragging on the brilliant minds that keep this world running? the very technology you claim is worthless is whats allowing you to post your thoughts on a computer screen

Lol, you keep putting words in my mouth, I have never once said it's worthless have I?

Survival. People will do these kind of jobs if need be. When it comes down to making money for families and having food on the table I think people will do what they have to. If that means cane cutting, black-smithing, so be it if you don't you don't have food on the table and that's what mattered back then.

Yeh, there is no doubt people would have a crack at it, but performance wise, not much people would touch the average cane cutter of the early 1900's.

What's with people likening working class people to apes?

To work as hard as the men do who do labouring jobs, you have to be physically fit, and that does not always mean brute strength, it also means your heart lungs, endurance and mind power.

There is a difference between an ape and a man who is willing to work 12 hours a day to supply his family with food.
any average worker obviously more intellegent then apes, but dont fool your self given no tools a gorilla would win in every aspect of physical competition, in strength and endurance. the only possible hope you could have is for a competition that requires you raise your arms above your head, as gorillas arms arent functional like that.

the point is its tools and intelligence that made mankind a sucessful race. some one said the mind is mighter then the bicep, i was simply agreeing. also most of the hard labor jobs would be rediculousily harder with the invention with out the modern inventions. example digging a basement with out a bull dozer or backhoe.
why you weak piece of crap your granddad would be ashamed if you he new you weren't digging a 900 cubic foot hole with just a shovel and pick.;) point made:D

edit: didnt even see your grandad comment before i wrote it lol

lol, think about it, it'd be cheaper if you dug your basement out with a shovel. 8D

for some reason this thread reminds me of the story of john henry and the race vs the steam drill. how he beats the steam drill but dies from exertion at the end. whats the point of being the winner if you die from it.

btw i had a librarian tell me the real man the story was based on actually died midrace when the tunnel collapsed.
