Question number 2 million about stocking a 75g (aka i have no idea what directiin to go with my tank

I have Seachem Prime, the API test kit, and plan to do 25% water changes weekly. I got the python water change tool to make it easier/carry fewer 5gallon buckets back and forth.

In my fantasy land where money and space aren't issues, I would have one large community tank with several breeding pairs, and one predator tank to help out with keeping the numbers reasonable. I currently have 13 (yes, 13) frogs, and while a lot of people have issues with feeder fish, I wouldn't be opposed with using this as a population control method (unless someone strongly advised against it of course. I trust that others know more than I do.).

Keep in mind Oscar's produce lots of waste, and are prone to HITH (AKA ) Hole in the head disease so tbh 25% probably won't be enough.

Thank you! How much would you recommend? I'm 100% committed to doing everything right, but it's hard when there is so much conflicting information online. (For example, I've seen several places saying 2 or even 3 oscars can be kept in a 75 gallon tank, which is clearly not best practice)
 
you are going to need to do more than 25% once a week, 90% or fin level. with a python not big deal, and you want to get a good vacuum done, every water change. I fin level change all my tanks every week, around 450g. between all tanks.

What does "fin level" mean?

Thanks so much for letting me know! Its quite frustrating how much bad quality information is out there that indicated 20-30% is plenty.

fin level, when the water is low enof to have the fishes top or dorsal starts braking the water.

Oh wow! You're right! Thank you! I was gifted a bottle of prime, but will definitely be switching it out when it becomes emply.

What kind of substrate do you recommend? I am partial to black sand, but I've been told that pool filter sand is ideal and afaik it doesn't come in black.
 
I would say do small cichlids which would bring out the 75 gallon. You could do salvini, or cryptoheros myrnae, nanoluteus, honduran red points, apistogramma species, some live bearers, a lil green and wood or lava rock. Just sit and imagine what you want. 75 gallons is a great tank to start with. Good luck
