questions on my flowerhorn..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i didn’t really plan on using the 55 gallon for the RD but again this fish was given to me. i feel bad for the fish as they just sit in a basement in the dark they have filters and heat and get fed but hardly ever any light i was told. there’s a store close by that takes fish you can’t keep and gives credit for them so i’m just going to take it up there friday and get the fh food by kokzilla didn’t you say that was a good one?

we’ve been back and forth the last few days on if we should take this RD to the local aquarium store but you guys just helped us out so much.

super random but this is the first place i’ve ever been able to talk to people that have any knowledge on fish and i’m curious as to what kind of tanks you guys have and what fish y’all have.

This is probaly the best place to learn all the right info on fish. If an individual is incorrect with their advice you can always count on another expert to correct them. I currently own a red dragon flowerhorn, A group of big male pink convicts, a Senegal and delhezi bichir, and a blue gene jack dempsey. My next plan is to order some of the rio robalo parachromis loisellei form Dan at COTA.

No I did not recommend kokzilla. I haven’t actually heard of it but I looked it up and the protein content is way to high. Flowerhorns digestive systems can be sensitive to high protein. I would get rid off he tetra pellets and get with NLS, northfin, or Hikari bio-gold. I would basically avoid any or atleast most foods directed towards flowerhorn guaranteeing bs. It’s just a marketing scam. Flowerhorns are just a hybrid of other Central Americans so why would they need special food. All you need is a high quality medium protein pellet. I would get all of the ones mentioned and alternate them throughout the week.

i’ve not seen any of the pink convict here in my area they are pretty sorry i was looking them all up. the snake lookin things freak me out for some reason. also not seen the blue gene jack dempsey around here either and i’ve seen forums talking about the bichirs but never seen them in person. it’s awsome to see what others have. i’ve got a jack dempsey with my oscars in the 75 gallon right now.

also which of the nls do you suggest. i want to get his color to pop as much as possible and well as his hump but also don’t want to harm him. i’ve looked on amazon and there’s so many different kinds.

ive also read that these three ingredients were the top ones to have in fh food

Astaxanthin
Xanthophyll
Spirulina
i can get you definitions for it if you’d like.
