questions on my flowerhorn..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
also which of the nls do you suggest. i want to get his color to pop as much as possible and well as his hump but also don’t want to harm him. i’ve looked on amazon and there’s so many different kinds.
Hump size and color is all in genetics. Whatever humpsize or color above the genetics of the actual packaging guarantees is bs. If you fed that stuff to a flowerhorn without hump genetics it would not magically get a hump. As for NLS. Any of their standard cichlid pellets will do.

ive also read that these three ingredients were the top ones to have in fh food

Astaxanthin
Xanthophyll
Spirulina
i can get you definitions for it if you’d like.
It’s fine I know what they areJust because those ingredients are in a pellet does not mean it’s a good pellet. Most of the information on flowerhorns sadly is wrong and many people are misinformed so people will reccomend all sorts of crazy pellets. Just stick with a regular medium protein pellet.

these are the two kinds the local store i’ve been talking about has not sure if there’s different kinds i was just looking for those specific ones. View attachment 1366511

Yes I searched up the ingredients. A lot of ingredients actually seemed more promising than some of the others I have seen on the flowerhorn market but the protein % is 2nd highest protein % I have seen at 59% while you should have around a 40% protein pellets.

This is 100% an amphilophus and for the sake of the ingnorance of the op I will call it a red devil but this is not an African cichlid. You can clearly see the fading process it is going through which is prevalent in Red Devils.
I don’t think calling people ignorant is gonna get much done. Just my two cents. This forum is supposed to help people not do call people names. Thank you.

? Since we were trying to indentify the fish I said I was going to call it a red devil rather than an amphilophus because that may confuse the op even though it may not be a red devil most likely a middevil or other amphilophus hybrid. I had no intent in insulting the op and I apologize if it came off that way.

well i appreciate all the info HybridFinatic HybridFinatic was able to give me he really helped me out. this post wasn’t to cause any problems but with that being said the mystery fish will be going to a new home tomorrow either way so again let’s all forget about it bc i took no offense to either person or anything that was said. let’s just be on this forum to help one another out that’s the whole reason i’m here to learn more and bc able to inform others from what i do learn. thanks

I would agree with HybridFinatic HybridFinatic about using the pellets that are supposed to increase kok size or make color look better. Looking at ingredients is number 1. A lot of those foods have like 50-70 protein and then a lot of crap added in. There’s quite a good selection of foods that are available that will be great for him. My little guy loves his bug bites. And they are a great food too. Grand sumo red is another great one but expensive. Also has a lot of fakes on the market. Hikari bio gold is also good. Especially when the get in the 4-5+ range.

I would also like to note, I hope I didn’t seem harsh on HybridFinatic HybridFinatic with my last post. I just don’t want anything to happen on this forum, especially when we got something going on in another thread on this sub form. HybridFinatic HybridFinatic probably knows what I’m talking about lol. Just wanted to keep this as clean as possible.

Don’t worry about it man. You shouldn’t worry about people getting offended because people will get offended over anything. Things don’t need to be dramatized. If anything serious happens just leave it to the staff members to handle.
