Quick question regarding adding Green Terrors to tank, How many at the beginning?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If your tank was a bit bigger I would suggest keeping two more females, that way they all get a turn at breeding and a rest from it in-between.
You could try this until they get a little bigger.

If you are starting out with fish that are 3 inch you should be able to tell the sexes apart.
Green terrors can be sexed quite early on.Young males will normally be showing signs of dominating behaviour if you watch them long enough. They will be a brighter colour than the females also at an early age.
They will also pair up and breed when only around 100 mm long.
Here are some I had. They are around 100 mm at this stage. You can clearly tell the male from the females.
Male is at the back near the bottom in this photo

I raised a group if 5 females and 1 male in a 7x2x2.It worked very well.

Your tank is only big enough for a pair and you may find your male is hard on your female at times.I would make sure you have plenty of places she can retreat to if the male gets too aggressive.
As said already a group of six juveniles is a good number to start with.
Be ready to move the other fish once a pair forms. Aggressive behaviour can form very quickly so have a plan ready for when this happens.
Good luck.

Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 , this set up looks amazing and one of the best I've seen.

philipraposo1982 philipraposo1982 , love the scape man, looks great. Most def envious of you guys.

But I think I gotta agree with ragin.
Bigger tank? A pair of GT's in a 75 is kinda tight.

IMO, no way would I keep my GT in a 75g. I actually posted up some pics this weekend. This should give you an idea of how much mass these guys can pack on. GT's are great fish and no doubt you'll enjoy them, but eventually they'll need more space. take care & have a good one yo!

So they spawned again today...

They got a bit pissy with each other for a bit, jaw locking... Its weird because he was the one to bring her over to his hangout spot and clean to rock for egg laying, now he doesn't like her around his space.

At least she is letting him around the eggs a bit this time. Last time she wouldn't let him near them. So I think their are working through their relationship issues. Outside of spawning they get along so well though, always together and such.
