I still google stuff and get lead to this site! I KNOW that somebody will be helped by this thread. And I am SURE if any so called "respected" member on here would have posted this EVERYONE would praise and applaud him for his efforts to try and help people. and BTW, I found it on the first page of google second result. all I did was type "my fish outgrew tank" or something... heres a screenshot!
Even in pink you still don't watch your posts and resort to trying to demean others with sarcasm as part of proving a point. Some of those so called "respected" members earned that respect by providing informative posts and threads helping their fellow hobbyists, so don't demean them with "" as if they don't deserve it just because you feel your not getting the responses you'd like from this thread.

If you want this thread to actually be informative how bout providing some links to DIY builds and sources of good temporary accommodations such as websites as well as give some examples that aren't so generalized. Tell people some of the price differences going that route that makes it a good temporary solution in a pinch. There's a slew of more info. you could give. Give the reader a thread you really put effort into that required effort on your part such as research if you want it to be appreciated. For the most part all you did was offer some suggestions and said google or youtube the real meat of the information to the reader.

^ +1, its a good thread but if you put more links and such into it so people can go directly from there to a good DIY tutorial it would be better. Also as others said do research on what your saying yourself, such as the kiddie pool chemicals issue

This is my problem with the post - it's all fluff. I agree members should be supportive, but if somebody throws together an incomplete, incorrect summary that is of little to no use, I have a right to say my opinion on it. It is not an attack, not personal, not critical just for the sake of it.

For starters, who is your audience, are you writing to MFKers or are you writing to people who come here from Google? Either way, the article is just not helpful.

Your info is incorrect:

#1 as others have pointed out, an inflatable kiddie pool is not a good choice, whether from possibility of puncture to chemicals.

#2 a DIY plywood tank is not a good suggestion for the idiot who bought an rtc and found this site through Google. You think they can build a large plywood tank? I doubt it.

Two of your three suggestions are not good. Your post would have been much more helpful if you researched and put time into the options.

Suggest an Intex pool that plenty of members have. Maybe include pics or links to where they can be purchased for a good price.

Show pictures of different kinds of stock tubs and prices.

State a warning of DIY plywood tanks, and show some examples or links to plans.

Talk about how to contact a public aquarium to inquire about donations.

Talk about the classifieds right here on MFK.

There are so many great stickies here on MFK that one can read and learn a lot from. This is not one of those articles and sorry if it hurts somebody's feelings.

plywood tanks are a great quick fix. And on the upside you can custom build it right where you want it and not have to move it all in one piece up and down stairs . . I will never move a 300 lb dry aquarium up three flights of stairs again... lesson learned. Also there are 100's of videos on DIY youtube you can also customize the front so it doesn't look so drabby. Its a great project and your fish will love you more in the end !

This is a really good point. Provide some extra information/links about each listed solution you gave in your original post, I think the main complaint in this thread is that the information is skin-deep. With some work I think it could be very helpful.
