For the people who keep saying inflatable pools are a terrible idea are wrong. When I lost power during hurricane Sandy I set up a few inflatable pools at my parents house which had power. I kept saltwater and freshwater fish, sharks and rays. If it wasn't for the inflatable pools I would have had a lot of dead fish. As the original poster said inflatable pools are temporary. There is a thread where someone who works at an aquarium uses inflatable pools as holding and grow-out enclosures.

Instead of acting like a bully, even if your name is in red contribute something positive to the conversation.

My main concern with inflatable and plastic kiddie pools would be the chemicals it was exposed too. But I'm sure a good cleaning and a soak would take care of that

#2 a DIY plywood tank is not a good suggestion for the idiot who bought an rtc and found this site through Google. You think they can build a large plywood tank? I doubt it.

Me and my idiot friends from my schools engineering program bought a red tail catfish for our house. Once it started to get to big we build a plywood pond in the schools greenhouse as an engineer club project. This site was very helpful in the build.

I didn't want to cut your quote short and just hate on a small section. You had some great ideas at the end of the post. Add some of your own information. Like you said you need to know who you are speaking to. The original poster is about 15 years old.

Well since I'm the only one in red whose commented it's logical to assume you mean me with your thread derailing comment.

So since your derailing how did I bully anyone? By upholding TOS which is what I've been asked to do?
How is me suggesting more proactive actions then reactive actions as well as more specific info. such as links and cost differences not contributing something positive?
Or are you just trolling as well as derailing?

I think anyone who wants to raise monsterfish should have the right to, even if it means they will be giving it up at some point when they are not capable of keeping up with it. I just hope people are not just dumping them into a local pond or river or even worse just flushing them down a toilet. The advice I have is to make friends in your community, get to know your local pet stores and their employees, participate in forums like MFK, maybe get to know someone at your local zoo or aquarium, anyone who will accept your monster when the time comes is someone you need to know. Until that time take care of your little monster!

I still google stuff and get lead to this site! I KNOW that somebody will be helped by this thread. And I am SURE if any so called "respected" member on here would have posted this EVERYONE would praise and applaud him for his efforts to try and help people. and BTW, I found it on the first page of google second result. all I did was type "my fish outgrew tank" or something... heres a screenshot!

Hard to have respect for someone who continually post stollen pics from the internet and argues and lies about tank size he owns(your 300g). Not to mention the elaborate stories that you tell.

If you want respect, hard work and over time you'll get it. Half effort write ups like this one will only get your feelings hurt from the criticism.

Too many problems with that. First, you are encouraging the sales of fish that few people can house properly. Second, very few people will be able to house some of the popularly sold monsters due to growth rate. Third, most pet stores won't take in large fish after a certain point. If you were planning on getting rid of it before that point you probably should not have bought it in the first place. Fourth, most zoos have all the oversized fish of certain types they need. Before my ghetto Intex pond was destroyed I contacted the local zoo about taking some large fish, as they had room. They never even responded. The popular cheap monsters grow so fast that you really don't have time to enjoy and care for them before they become a nuisance.

Personally I think that the OP should be commended for at least making an attempt to be a useful contributor to the forums as opposed to what were in reality attacks. Could he have been more informative? Yes. But he also asked for any other contributions to the thread, not that he was the end all/be all as some others think of themselves on here.

That's a really bad statement to make. That's like me saying anyone who wants to get a tiger or elephant, has the right too. Weather they can take care of them or not.

My first post in the thread I put a link to someone's pond build. In my second post I shared my experience using inflatable pools as well as another memebers experience they shares. If you think that the thread is getting derailed moderate it instead of being a major cause of the problem.

Seems like the only people who are in violations of the terms of agreement is people who don't agree with you. What TOS was broken when somebody said the holier then thou comment break. It wasn't a personal attack against anyone,

You are trying to put the blame on me for thread being derailed, it was derailed way before I commented, The only reason why this thread is being derailed is because of crappy moderating and somebody with an attitude equivalent to a power tripping mall security guard.
