quiet one 9000

maybe the pumps just are not the same quality that they used to be all of my older ones work with out any problem but the last 4000 I got realy suck it only worked when it wanted to.

I have two of the older quiet one pumps, the red and tan color ones that were only external pumps, that I got used with the aquarium. They were about 4-5 years old when I got them and I have had them for about 3 years now. They are supper quiet compared to the new quiet one pumps (blue/black ones), which I haver three off. Two are used for under sand jets and the third is a back up for the original Q1 and used to do water changes. Compared to the older Q1, the new ones look like cheap knock offs.

damn. I guess thats the way it goes. The cheaper they can build them, the bigger the profit margin. Thats what it is all about. What size are your older ones? Do you have any extras? Wanna get rid of any?

The older ones are rated at 1140gph at zero head. No extras to get rid of . I'm actually hoping they don't die on me or if they do I can repair them somehow since they are super quiet and use less than 100watts of power. Only problem with them is they get supper hot and I need to use a 12volt fan to keep them from automatically shutting down if they get too hot in the summer time. I have the fan running in the summer only and last year they never shut down. They also heat up the water a bit so when I do water changes I try to bring the temp back down. I checked about a year or two back looking for the original ones and no place I could find had them for sale.

O.K. I have been in touch with pentair about this pump. I finally got them to admit that they have been having problems with the 9000 model. They upgraded my pump to the 14000hh model, and I installed it today. It is quiet!! It took almost a full year, 4 pumps and an upgrade to finally have a quiet sump! So, to anyone thinking about a quiet one pump, STAY AWAY FROM THE 9000 MODEL!!!
