to the OP, sorry to hear about your losses... but its exactly stories like this that make me think twice about giving any LFS any of my fish to take care of or other wise...
Because about a month ago my Female Palembang Puffer laid eggs so i obviously had to go shopping for some brine shrimp eggs etc... so i went to this one store that was near me which i knew had some palembangs so i thought i would drop by to see their puffs and pick up the food there... Any way, upon getting in i noticed that their palembang tank was disgusting, with lights all off, tank algae all over the place and a few dead tetras at the bottom, which was NOTHING like what it looked like just a few weeks before when i first went there...
So my first thought was naturally poor puffers looked really beat and sickly, but i wasn;t prepared to take any more home with me since i don't have the space, nor do i want to take care of, or support buying sick fish... so i just asked for the brine shirmp eggs and paid... at this point, the owner asked me what the eggs were for, so i explained to him the situation, and he actually had the nerve to say tell me, if i needed any one to help un-load those puffers, he'd help me out!!!
I mean seriously what would make him even THINK for a second i would give up any of my young puffers to him... so i basically paid for the food then said, thanks but considering the shape of your puffs right now, i think i'll unload my own fish to make sure they don' just all die and suffer...
