Do you feel people on such meds are weak minded? Does it even matter?

I just think you need to quit picking up chicks from my bus!!!

well since beauty is in the eye of the beholder it depends who is looking

now if you base attractivness on outward what do you do when the person gets disfigured

personally I think everyone has the capability and the ability to be attractive depends if they choose to be.

I think people who choose to live a vicarious life through the dreams and hopes of others are less attractive because they have sold their own dreams to live anothers.

Not a problem at all. Everyone has felt anxious or nervous in certain situation, they may even still feel it. Its a natural thing everyone feels. Now, when someone has a disorder thats different. Could be brought on by too much stress, or perhaps through some bad experiences, and now they have become sensitive to certain situations.

Anxiety problems are not someone who is unstable or voilent or anything like that. Its the exact opposite, people are "apprehensive".

In mty opinion, taking meds for it shouldnt make someone less of anyone else. In fact, they have accepted it and sought a way to help it. Theres people that have problems and they still hide it.

PS: Anxiety or depression does NOT make you a weak person at all. Doesnt mean you are "weird" either. These problems could happen to anyone, it doesnt discriminate.

I take xanax for PTSD related to being a combat medic in the Army - the less attractive side of me would be a lot more prevelant without it.

Thank you for sharing, is the above statement always true thou?

How does one know whether or not ones anxiety is based on mental or a chemical deficiencies/imbalance? Is there a test? Or are these all just unproven theories people have and come to conclude based on their personal research?

Could be number of reasons. Everyones anxiety is brought on different, sometimes it could be the same. In any event, anxiety is not "weird" or makes you weak, AT ALL. Anxiety and fear is a natural feeling to humans. But someone with a problem will have these feelings too much.

I have to say this anxiety is an emotion based out of worry or fear so far as I know.

Without getting shall we say preachy here, I wish to share a thing I teach people.

Take yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The usual state of life for a person is to be filled with regrets of the mistakes from yesterday which were brought about today whilst dealing with the might have been scenarios of tomorrow. Tomorrow meaning 5 seconds, 5 minutes, 5 hours etc.... in the future.

A truly vicious circle at best always caught between the gulf of what might happen, being harried by what has happened never ready to deal with what is happening.

Rather change things to approach life this way.

First, take an inventory of the mistakes that have been and make them right if you can, offer amnesty to those that need it, ask amnesty from those that you require it. Then the problems of yesterday will trouble you no more since they are done.

Second, do not listen to the worries and fears of what might happen. As for the most part statistically about 90-97% of the bad things that might happen never do. So if you refuse to accept the things that might happen in favour of the things that are happening you are left with 100% of your daily time to deal with the small amount of reality that is happening. End result much less mess ups and wipe outs ending with no regrets.

Third, refuse to return to the land of hypothesis and stay within the land of the real. Live life refuse to let your dreams and visions be buried under these false realities that threaten to bury you but never follow through.

Try this experiment. Take a pocket notebook and jot down all the fear and worries that come to mind over a month. Now keep a black marker and stroke out the things that do not happen in the day that you worried about them and at the end of the month do a calculation of that which did and that which did not happen and you will be shocked. As well you will have a hard core physical tool to say to the fears and anxieties that plague you that they are not real.

By all means if you have been prescribed meds take them unless it comes to the point that you no longer need them.

I dont have this, but someone brought it up. Talking about panic attacks, from what Ive heard from people its like being stabbed in the chest, along with other bad feelings. Now doesnt this sound scary? For whatever reason, these people have developed this problem. Would you call military guys weak because they have PTSD?

People forget that the human mind is really fragile. It has nothing to do with how strong you are or how smart you are. If you break your leg, does this indicate how smart or strong you are? You broke your leg because its tissue and bone, just like everyone elses leg. No one is immune or indestructible to injury.

Severe anxiety can literally paralyze a person, thus rendering them dysfunctional. That does make that person weak imo, but not necessarily in a derogatory fashion.

Mild anxiety can be addressed through talk therapy with some success. Depends on the cause and the person.

As far as benzos go, there are more and more non-addictive medications available that target the problem rather than simply numbing them. Psychiatrists are moving away from prescribing them.

I have to take anxiety meds, so I could care less.
