having worked in restaurants in the past, the table is the LEAST of your worries.

LMAO the truth.. I'm happy just to get clean utensils..

To be honest never thought or cared enough about it enough to notice. Gr8 you just made every one of us OCD about silverware..

Does anyone else take the fork and see how many times they can twist it around and then leave it on the table?

I usually arrange all the left over dishes, trash and silverware in a certain way or make a smiley face. Or how about stacking all of the dishes in one nice pile?
Anyone ever spelled out, "Thank You" with the left overs?.....

I usually stack everything nicely just to be nice to the wait staff, unless Im at a really nice place.

Well, i am a server at a local diner, we use the same rag for 4 hour intervals but before we wipe down the tables we have to soak them in bleach water for at least 30 seconds. BUT, i have been to big chains who take a rag, in plain cold water, and use it to fling the crumbs and debri on the floor and leave....yucky? stuff on your table with a smile. but i would always use another napkin for my silverware regardless, no matter what they cleaned the table with. oh and....you are never safe :) the kitchens are very....well they dont follow health guidelines unless it is close to inspection time. and i have worked a few diff places and they have all been the same thus far. so all in all, live it up, and hope your immune system can handle it? lmoa. thats all you can do.

Nice post.

My system is pretty tough working with twenty 6 year olds for the last 8 years...lol

just out of habit i'd place any utensils i was using on a napkin before eating, i do it without thinking - probably cleaner that way. i also have a habit of picking it up to look for stains or anything on the utensils LOL a bit extreme, i know.

Ive worked in the kitchen and no one wants to hear this but the dish water is probably changed once a day in mom and pop shops the plates look clean but if you saw the water you'd think again I always put my fork/knife on a napkin or the edge of my plate none the less the counters are full of sweaty arms and only cleaned when they look dirty
