No disrespect to FH keepers but that Trimac is better looking than any FH I have ever seen. Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

It obviously doesn't have the ridiculous colors of a FH, but I agree. I would rather have a nice trimac.

Great Trimac! Makes me wonder why FHs exist at all.

A trimac was my second cichlid when I started fish keeping. Now I have a FH. It's all good that you like trimacs. But FHs are FHs, and trimacs are trimacs. It's funny what you guys say, because youre either denying the beauty of the FHs, or have not seen anything much with your newbie eyes.

Amazing job on raising it.

I got a Trimac too but his middle spots are up to close to his dorsal fins instead of lateral line. It might be a fault if I was ever to show him but he's still a show piece.

Thanks and post some pics!!

Looking really good. The pic quality is far better with the new cam too!

Thanks. I noticed how a good camera can help really show what you're looking at.

very nice, they grow up so fast

Thanks.

I've bought large fish and small, but IMO you can't beat buying a 1" fish and seeing it become a monster.

nice looking trimac mate. i love loaches to so i thought they should get a mention too!! cool YOYO loach

nice pics with the new cam too

Thanks, he's just started noticing the loaches are in his way. I have 4 in there with him. He ignored them all this time but I see him hunting them at night now. I'll be moving them to another tank soon:(

This camera is by far the best one I've ever owned.

nice trimacs
if you don't mind me asking, how much were they when you bought them small?

Thanks. IIRC, they were $7 each. Check out Jeff's price/availability section on his site. He has larger ones available now.

Very nice, I love Trimacs. Personally I've not had luck raising one into adulthood. I've tried several times and they get themself killed by the time they hit 6-7".

Thanks. Sorry to hear you haven't had them get larger. Must be that attitude of theirs that keeps getting themselves killed:)

By the way, I have a Grammodes pair now cause of you. Yours is such a beast!!!

Thanks. I like some flowerhorns too but I'll take a true Trimac over a flowerhorn any day.

I was wondering what happened to your Trimacs -- that male is stunning! I think I can see a very beautiful fish developing in him, the yellow in him will start getting more prominent as he ages.

So you don't have a female right now? My female was very similar to yours until the male passed her in size, and then he went nuts. They haven't yet bred for me -- though Reagan (another member from the board) who is keeping them while I move this month, has already had success in spawning them.

You can maybe think about keeping him as a show fish (w.o. female) -- no bruises and all his trailing fins intact :)

I wish I could see more members keeping Trimacs, I personally think they are the most beautiful fish in Amphilophus family (maybe tied with Amarillo!).

Judging from your Midas, I would say you should show the Trimac more :)

Thanks man. He started really coloring up at around 4 1/2". First the pink then the yellow on the body started becoming more visible. He's been getting nicer and nicer as the months go by:D They are beauties!!

I had to get rid of her or I'd only have her now. She was peaceful during the day but Jack the Ripper at night:eek: I watched her one night as she chased one of her brothers into a corner and start the beating. I pulled her out that night.

I plan on doing exactly what you said, keep him in his own tank as my show fish. Well, unless something changes and I end up with a special gal for him:naughty:

Great looking Trimac, you've done a good job in raising him up.

Thanks. It's been great watching him grow from a tiny 1" fish.
