You will enjoy shellies! A good start to Tanganyika. Plus you wont be discouraged by julies or brichardi (most people start with) when they kill off all their tankmates. Multifaciatus is a good start. Once you get past those move up to some of the more interesting ones.

What do you consider more more interesting? My husband wants a Black Calvus...I don't know where we'd put it right now though.

Shellies are more interesting to me. I have 3 variants of comps, and 2 variants of Calvus, they really dont do to much, while shellies are always active.

I have 39 illangi. Tropheus in general do not cost much. It's the fact that you have to buy 30 of them at a time to keep them from killing each other.

Second picture has too much flash.....but it's better than most other pictures I took.

I took these pictures like two weeks ago....I took out all the thin leaf java ferns....


They just chillin with your new petro friend.....after he got a beat down.

The two on top were fighting. Wish I got a side shot.

I agree with James on the Calvus/Comps I have a few also and unless the males are in breeding mod they aren't very active......though the look of the white or ink fin calvus is sweet IMO.

Females are hard to come by, after spawning kilesa clutches are normally very male heavy. I can call 3 or 4 people now that each have well over 100 of these fish. As I can get them for $10-$12 a fish.

Too bad I didn't know you any time in the last three months. I've been looking for some around that price. I got them and the final price was $13.44 shipping included and I thought that was a steal.
