actually if you look, I think the majority of the ones you brought in had the connecting tail band, with the "exception" of some and some with split bars also. I would say those are all real pucher.,

the recent imports, all of them have 7 bars., total

How about this Wes? this came to me as Malaysian one both sides identical... has gold reflection on its face which cannot be seen in this picture.

so what is your conclusion on these 6 vs 7 bar dats? if you were looking at tails alone, most would say the 7 bar dats look IT. and then you see the wide middle bar coming to a point, and sweeping back.

and bringing up these old pics again, the Pulchers in both diagrams only have 6 total stripes, while those with 7 are labeled IT

and here's an old picture. the translation says these 6 & 7 bar dats are both Pulcher...

definite wide bar, but 7 stripes? I am really confused now :) http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=353179

to make things even more interesting, and to support what a lot of folks say about handpicked ITs being sold as STs, check this out. do you see a resemblance here between the ITs collected from this area and the true ST/Pulchers???

kinda makes you wonder doesnt it, what is really a true Pulcher these days???

yes it is, but when I pick this fish up from this vendor here he had a tank full of these dats all consistanly have 3 wide clean bars and lots of gold patches which are not widebars, where as i've seen other bags indos have inconsistant bars dirty, broken, etc..I ask if he hand picked these out he says they all came like this in a bag...other variant of IT possibly from a different part of the river?

not sure about the dirty color or broken bars, but if you look at this same map again, you see IT comes from two general locations. one shows 3 bar and the other has more. how accurate this truly is i dont know...

I've seen alot of Indos & Widebars but what gets me on those dats are the gold patches on them...why does your chart say "WW" on it...:D

based on color and body shape... ive never been one to look at bars... that is the most variable trait of these fish therefore cannot be soley used as id reff...
