It not a common pleco anyways! Its a sailfin and it can move soon into a 180.

Sailfin basically is a common pleco, grows large and acts the same.

I don't know how you can say your pleco doesn't eat your bichirs slime coat... I mean, that's kind of hard to do when the fish is most active at night, and once they get a taste for slime coat, they don't stop.

If you feed your pleco right from the get go, they will have no need to go after slimecoat. If they are going after slimecoat, that means that at one point in time they needed to get nutrients that you weren't giving them. Sometimes it happens, yes, but if you are responsible about feeding your pleco correctly, they can live peacefully with bichirs for their entire lifetime.

the expert there thinks that his years of pleco experience is better then my 20 years. in the end what he is trying to say is the same as me saying a royal pleco will not eat any of your drift wood in the tank or your gold nugget will surely solve your algae problem. "you feed your plecos vegetables? how absurd! i would never dream of feeding my plecos things like potatoes, zucchini or squash, never never never...."

but that is just me them/ "you people" we know nothing....

Ok I will ignore your extreme condescension in an effort to keep this from becoming an argument instead of a discussion. All I said was that I had experience with the subject and I never had an issue with it. Plenty of people keep bichirs, rays, gar, and other similar fish with amazing results. However this isn't always the case. I never dismissed your experience nor did I ever once say I know more than you (because more than likely I don't). And my "you people" comment was directed at the fact you think a pleco WILL kill a bichir. It wasn't said that a pleco can kill, might kill, could possibly kill, or even more than likely will kill. I guess I've never owned any homicidal plecos. So how about we agree to disagree and i'll go back to death row aka the pleco sub forum.

Back to the guy's original question, Try a featherfin, worse that can happen is it doesnt work out. Currently I'm keeping a giant gourami, 2 midas cichlids, 3 jaguar cichlids, a sailfin pleco, a senegal bichir, and 3 enderlicheri bichirs in my 'oddball' tank. I havent had real agression problems so far, (meaning no ripped fins, and no one is starving due to being bullied away from the food). Other oddballs you could try are fire eels/ tiretrack eels, african butterfly fish, more bichirs (because one is never enough :D) Maybe you could even try some geophagus altifrons. They look kinda weird with those big rounded faces, and the colors are beautilful. or a clown knife, those are my favorite knife fish.

I'll cheers to that!

Were all here to learn, unfortunately its harder to communicate with a keyboard then in person (happens all the time with texting)

You both made great opinions and even I learned something, by using both your perceptions I can conclude my own opinion on the subject.
