rarest CA/SA cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any of the Herichthys Labridens species or Theraps like Lentiginosum, Coeruleus, Wesseli, etc. If you're in the UK there is a good cichlid association I believe called the East Anglia Cichlid association. You should see what's there locally as a lot of americans are jealous of what you can get in europe.

Where would you acquire some of these? I have been in love with this species since I first saw them but I have never seen any for sale (guess thats why they are rare huh.)

Been looking for these too but no luck...I hope threads like this would motivate vendors to import them :D

R. xinguensis would be nice to see as well if vendors start importing Retroculus sp.

They don't ship well from what I've read, so even when imported most don't make it and the prices for what remains skyrockets, if any. The not shipping well makes sense, most rapids dwelling fish don't ship well.

The last person I know that had them is Josh Shilling. He worked with a small importer to get a group, but lost them in an accident.

Well, hope they will just show up one day like ornatus and pelligrini...

Herichthys steindachneri is another that is very rare. I haven't seen a vendor have them in years. Would love to see them come available :)
