grow beds huh?? how are the plants? i would never use that water for growing plants.... especially since you could set up the purple water for maximum growth!!

The plants are a little yellow, nitrate levels are low... i need more feeder fish = p
The same bacteria that break down ammonia in fish tanks lives on every surface of the medium in my grow beds, then the roots of my plants remove nitrates from the water.

I don't really want maximum, I have more basil than i can eat right now.

"Water color is age old kelp, I seen people drink that stuff, its good for ya."
Age old, not turtle water....

he obviously wants his water to have high levels, or his organic tomatoes wont have big buds..

The amount of nutrients you would need to add to support a budding tomato plant would kill anything in the tank. But thats because of the higher phosphate and potassium levels. For veg most plants need much less and suck nitrogen like mad. Cabbage and stuff like that works too.

I think that turtle looks happy and that is all that matters. Post a pic of the full tank with plants, I'd dig on seeing that. Aquagardening (gardening with the help of fish, not like hydroponics), is pretty much the up and coming thing in green farming/gardening. I've seen a thread or two on here from people who have fish (Tilapia) sustaining their gardens. Very cool stuff.

I don't think i can post all that on this forum, if a mod says its cool ill put some pics up in my profile.
