I have a reticulated ray and over the last two weeks it has been getting lighter and lighter. It has been eating fine and is still active. It also is losing it's pattern. It's disc is becoming pall and almost white on the edges. Can anyone tell me what is going on! Water parameters are good. Thanks......

I've never even heard of that! what does the poop look like? I'm wondering about nutritional absorption.

Okay, the poop looks good, but has been long lately, water checks fine. I will post up a picture when I get a chance. He may be stressed, my JD had babies but I have never seen them bother him like they do everyone else.

Just a hypothesis, no knowledge backing this, but perhaps the long poop is indicative of some diet-induced constipation. I imagine constipation would stress a ray. What are you feeding? Perhaps add some variety. Wow this is out there. Feel free to mock.

I am and have been feeding black worms (live) I also feed frozen blood worms and krill, but unsure if he is eating the frozen food. So there may be something to that, just eating one thing.

i dont want to panic you but from what i see it looks like he is getting ready to have a outer disc infection.
if i am right..and i hope i am not..in the next couple days you will get a light fuzzy fluffy fungus.
myself..i would do a 90% wc and i would get some salt in the tank soon. turn up the temp.

look, again, i hope i am wrong..this is imo.

yeah..its really all you can do.
i had a retic. it was my second ray. a real pain in the ass.
he had two outbreaks that i won and he lost the last one.
i am surprised that it has been a couple weeks in changing its color. one time it only took two hours before he was fine to having a disc infection.
yes, please keep us posted.
