i never had that problem. when i got my pair at 3-4'' they took bloodworm and mussel meat all day long. bit expenssive feeding rays cos when they get big they can eat a packet of mussels between them.
i feed mine on tetra prima sinking pellets and hikari gold cichlid pellets to boost there colour.
For my retic, It was really hard to convert it to different foods.

Was feeding the ray cut worms, bloodworms, cut silver sides. The secret was to soak what i wanted to feed my retic in bloodworm juice.

Cant wait to see your new pick ups.

Sorry for the derail, but 3 retic's would do good in a tank that size OP.

you think i could fit 3? well i have 2x bichirs going in there which will spend most of the time on the bottom .. also i plan to have some decor at the bottom mainly on the sides .. so ill probably just stick with one. POSSIBLY 2x if something was to change my interest .. plus i have overflows taking up a bit of room in my back corners which sucks but thats life. how are they money wise?

yeh i agree. if space is limited. should get3 or possibily 4 rectus rays. would look amazing and dont grow too huge

im still worried about bichirs with rays. they can bite. ive witnessed my mates bichirs eat botia sidthmunki loaches that were 3/4 its size

Retic's are cheap. But i payed way more for mine due to my location. In the states they go for $45 to $80. If you get them at 4'' then it will be a long time before you have to upgrade. But yes, you can keep them with poly's. 4 would work in a tank your size.

4 rays? are you guys serious? i know they are half small but 4? with 2x polys and my other stock list? .. seems pretty excessive, even if they are small. maybe ill think about a second one .. i have to think money wise. i have no money for my fish at the moment .. just spent all of my money on the tank, and put school + pump/heater/air pump on visa .. which is racked up now so trying to figure out the money stuff but im deffinatly getting a ray. if a retic then i might think about getting two if theyd be fine in there with two bichirs. they will have the run of the middle majority of the tank.

Just get one....get a male retic. And you'll see that rays are addicting. And yes, the poly's would work with rays.
