ray stocking density

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
keeping the height of the tank down, is gonna save u money on the glass thickness.

rays dont need the height anyway....

Keeping your tank height to 30-31" will cut your cost down quite a bit. I saved 40% by going from 36" tall to 31" tall.

All acrylic piece comes in 8 and 10 ft sheet. Not sure if they'll do 3/4" to span to 10 ft.

shorter would also be a good option. id like the tank for its viewability (if thats a word...). a pond would be much cheaper, but id like to see them from a distance as well.

a wind generator and or solor pannels that would actually make a difference would cost as much as the tank.... ive been looking into both for months...

They'd both be worth it, especially with the tax breaks available for purchasing them. Solar is probably a lot more realistic and worthwhile than wind energy though.

can i say three words about the windmill?

location, location, location......

ill have to check out both though. just figured id go with the tank because its easy to view and diagnose etc. i could get a large pond but then id spend more on food to feed more rays, itd prolly cost the same in the long run.

To save a lot on heating cost just isolate the tank really well.

solar would be the ideal set up.. ive been researching it for 2 years now..my old system would have cost me 10 grand to pull it off the grid and half that for a back up system....
wind turbines that put out good power are $$$$$$ i planned on 3 small ones as a back up to my house cost me about 2 grand but only be enough power to just keep some lights on

if you got 20k to blow on a tank the little bit a year to feed them shouldnt be a problem... i told you before contact wholesellers.... you could probably every few months just buy 15 pounds of shrimp and keep it in a seperate freezer....you are worried about the smallest cost involved in keeping them that shouldnt remotely be a problem if you got 20 grand to spend on a tank...

15 pounds of shrimp is going to feed 6-8 rays for a few months?

figure of speach.... as adults its possible 5 years down the road... feeding least of the cost you should be considering... seriously this is gonna sound ignorant but if you have 15-20 grand to put out for this tank then cost to feed should not be any issue or question cause running it alone is going to cost alot of $$$$
