ok. well i may bump it down to a 600 with 2' height. the pond option is still available. but i supposed your right that the few grand it may cost a year to feed i do think is worth it. the tank could either cost alot or a pond would not cost much. my options are still open

figure of speach.... as adults its possible 5 years down the road... feeding least of the cost you should be considering... seriously this is gonna sound ignorant but if you have 15-20 grand to put out for this tank then cost to feed should not be any issue or question cause running it alone is going to cost alot of $$$$

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

solar would be the ideal set up.. ive been researching it for 2 years now..my old system would have cost me 10 grand to pull it off the grid and half that for a back up system....
wind turbines that put out good power are $$$$$$ i planned on 3 small ones as a back up to my house cost me about 2 grand but only be enough power to just keep some lights on

if you got 20k to blow on a tank the little bit a year to feed them shouldnt be a problem... i told you before contact wholesellers.... you could probably every few months just buy 15 pounds of shrimp and keep it in a seperate freezer....you are worried about the smallest cost involved in keeping them that shouldnt remotely be a problem if you got 20 grand to spend on a tank...

15 pounds of shrimp is going to feed 6-8 rays for a few months?

Very interesting thread. I agree with Nick man, if you spend so much on a tank, feeding the rays should be the least of your concerns.

If I may, compost worms (earthworms) are a seriously nutritious food for rays and if you're dedicated enough to have a large bin sitting outside you'll be able to harvest plenty for your rays. All you have to do is fatten those worms up.

Now ..the tank. I always recommend to my customers when they go for a Tenecor setup to buy the lower one. It saves a lot of money
Ultra‐Rectangles U670gal 120x48x30 $ 4,336
Ultra‐Rectangles U775gal 120x48x36 $ 6,504
Ultra‐Rectangles U1045 120x48x48 $ 12,389
Ultra‐Rectangles U1320 120x48x60 $ 14,144

Now, filtration. If you go with good enough filtration you'll be able to keep more than 6 adult rays in that tank. Heating that tank is not "THAT" difficult, especially if the ambient temperature is at a constant ~25C. Not to mention that if you go for a sump filter (and you should), then two return pumps (preferably 5000gph+ ...will warm up the water a little bit ;) )

Anyway, good luck with the project. Get some nicer blacks too.

that 670 tank would be a good tank to go with. i was going to start with a motoro for a month or so then buy another one, and keep adding rays in that way. with quarantine of course. itll prolly go motoro, marble, marble, black, black, black.......and so on.

are you a tenecor dealer? do you do the whole setup packaged into one? that would make my life (when i purchase the tank) a breeze.

i was thinking a layer of sand in the tank, i mean i like ease of maintenance, but for visual purposes sand would work well. white sand with black rays?

according to the tenecor site, they dont offer the "simplicity aquarium package" for the U670 tank, which is what im looking for. but the bigger the tanks get, they dont offer this for any of them really.

does tenecor offer this in some other way?
