Would a large ray be ok with these cichlids and cats?
I have a 300g(uk) tank with :-

2xCichla
1xArowana
1xJag
1xOscar
1xChocolate cichlid
1xSynspila
1xBocourti
1xZonatus
1xVulture catafish
1xRusty jelly catfish

Just read the sticky, a very good read. Still any coments welcome.
Has this sort of mix been done or could it be?

Since stingray are best kept in a species tank i would say not a very good idea . Although i do keep silver arowana with mine the rest of the fish don't sound very promising with compatibility.

The cichlids are a bad idea.

The only way I could see it working is if it was an extremely large ray, with an attitude. The cichlids might leave it alone, but not likely.

no its proly not a good idea

Well he has been in there for a month now and all is going well.
The only problem so far was in the first week, the ray kept trying to get under some bog wood where the jelly cat lays. But after a few days he has learn't not to do this and all has been well since.

why do you say rays are best kept on their own in a species tank

my rays p14s have bred with
5 x 12inch tigers/dats
1 x 12inch cambelli tiger/dat
1 x 20inch tigrinus cat
1 x 12inch flag tail
1 x 20inch asian aro

i wouldnt recomend some chiclids i have seen some peck at the rays disk or even eyes

the polys should be OK the rays may chew them to start but once they feel the spikes on the dorsal they normally move off

ur ray will be dead in no time. it may work now but wont last. rays are easily stressed and best kept in a stress free environment. oscars pick on rays, cichlids pick on rays, cichla kill rays. catfish could eat rays. not a good mix at all.

aros and rays is great tho :)

Arowana and rays make great tankmates for home aquaria. I've seen little aggression between my other fish and the rays. I would say it comes down to what the personality of the cichlid is. My oscars are wimpy and spend 90% of the time up at the surface in a corner hiding.
