I bought 250 mls and put it in 2 bags and tossed it in my 110 pbass grow out tank. That also hold 10 clown loaches and a few plecs. Its been almost a week and its turning color (wow) and ill admit my water looks amazing. It hasnt lowered my nitrates at all. But I do that the cheap way with 2 50 percents a week.
I like the product for now. I also ordered another litre to try on my ray tank. I also like seachem as a company haha call me a consumer

POLYFILTER is the best not poly wool POLYFILTER made by underworld i used this with great results in my old tank in my internals it changes colour to show what its removing heavy metals heavy organics
i used POLYFILTER for over 4 years never had any problems with it and its a filter pad like poly wool but works much better

Ok. All this sounds fantastic..... I can replace wondering if I designed an adequate system with the feeling of knowing everything will be ok with this magic dust, sand, or special pebbles that change color.

How much $ will it cost me to outfit my 1500 gallon system? I'd love to remove all those harmfull things I've been subjecting my rays to over the years.

:)

LOL I hear ya, but if you were to use it on a 1500 gl. system the directions say 1 L. purigem per 1000 gl. and rays are fairly big so you would need to multiply the 1.5 L. times 4 or 5 times.

If you used 5X the purigen it would be about $750 plus a chem chamber and pump. so figure on about 1 K for the set up. Seems to me wc's or a drip system would be a lot cheaper.

it has been slow here, and its a good enough topic, im all for the best water quality, any body have a tds meter? ive got one and i get some amazing results with , my tap and after my 5 gallon di filter then my tank before a water change.

Once again, not a replacement for water changes or regular tank upkeep

I have been wanting to try out a tds meter, I just don't know much about them might be time to start researching

Purigen is not going to lower your nitrates if you already have them. It's just going to help prevent anymore from being produced.

I think the big misconception is Purigen will clean nitrates from the water. That is not how it works. In my 55 gallon reef tank with fish I use Purigen and it works wonders. I HAVE to use RO/DI. Once I did all my water changes to remove the Nitrates, they were almost non existent.

Start using Purigen on a tank with 0 Nitrates and you should never see nitrates. If you use tap water you will see some nitrates, as some of my tap water has failed the nitrate test before even putting it into my tank.

Just my $0.02. I hope this helps.

if you have such a large tank it would be crazy not to have a 24/7 water change in place mine changes 200 gal per day and since the 2 years my system has been set up i have not done 1 water change by hand

with a 24/7 water change you dont need to waste money on the majic dust

A lot of discus keepers use tds meters, my friend has a nice setup with quite a few quids worth of wilds, his tds is not much higher than that coming out of his hma filter.

purigen works great. in my opinion it does EXACTLY what its designed to do.... take the money out of your back account and transfer it to seachems.
