please make sure that if you live in the states check the local laws in regarding your presence of piranhas in your state. thers onllike 10 i think that allow them. i live in illinois that is legal for piranhas.

yeah make sure its legal in your state..... and i would start with 6 and say u lose maybe one or two and 4 would be good for a 75 ... i had 4 adults in a 75 about 9" each and shoaled fine .. but was also raised together. never had cannibal problem but most people do.. but if well well fed i think ur fine

i disagree with diogenes :nilly: i think (personaly) a 75 gallon tank would be the minimum for a shoal of red bellies (3 or push it a bit with 4) if you keep em well fed they shouldnt be too aggressive to each other but mind you this is coming from someone who has no piranhas as of yet

I think Ill do a gamble with 4. :)
can anyone tell me a good diet from juvi to adult?
I know its not always feeder goldfishes.

thanks. that helps alot. :D
are the like very hard to keep? - my last question.

I would say yes, they are not for the beginner and require more often and hardy water changes. Not to mention a well balanced diet.

*Water changes are keeeeey!!!!

I am aware of that. Im buying a sump for my aquarium.
No one has answered yet about using two overheads.

here are my options:
- 2 overheads only
-A sump filter only
-2 overheads + a sump
-a sump + a overhead.

Im not really sure. tell me :)

if money is no obstacle then go with a sump and 1-2 ac110's that would give you crazy filtration

a sump is really all thats nessicary infact youd still be over filtering with just a sump on a 75 gallon tank (depending on how much bio media/turnover rate of course)

money is an obstacle for me, Im just a student :P Im getting most of my funds from my allowance and a little from my parents. all for the sake of love ;)

money aside, so is it just one sump for my 75??

If money is a big issue, get two marineland biowheel filters, the big ones, they only about 65 dollars each and will do a good job. just keep the tank vacuumed and cartridges clean.

as for food, I start baby reds with flake food, then step them up to Hikari Cichlid Gold, the one in the red package.

Feeder goldfish are a temptation, but come at a cost. they raise aggression in the tank, carry disease and add tremendous bio load.
