Well I've changed my opinion. My Oscar was just guarding his lunch from moochers.

He seems to have consumed several, and I've removed most of the rest.

Mostly he's been raised on various worms, and Cichlid Gold + Bug Bites.
This was almost 3 years ago . . .

I wish more ppl would branch off into breeding native fish like bluegill, orange spot pumpkin seeds, dollar/longear sunfish, green sunfish, yellow perch and so on. I think these fish make great tank fish. I mean they are related to cichlids distantly, they tend to act like them and breed like em. I'm sure they would have great potential to get awesome colors if bred right.

Yes they call that the spotted bass.
But please don't expect taxonomy from me.
You must live a bit further south then I do. All we got for bass up here are largemouth, small mouth, white bass, and striped bass. Atleast as far as I know I've never seen a spotted or Florida black bass up here.

Would make a fairly cool aquarium fish. And spotted bass is the common name so no taxonomy needed
Well yeah it's just a sub specie of largemouth, just like the Florida black bass.
But yeah I'd love to have a breeding colony of orange spotted pumpkin seed sunfish. But it's just so hard to find any. But they are gorgeous atleast.

No spotted is m. Punctulatus where a lmb is m. Salmoides
Huh, well good to know they aren't the same thing then. So that would probably mean the Florida black bass isn't the same specie either then. I'd love to have any bass but I currently don't have a tank big enough for any that I know of.
