When I was a kid I'd catch wild bass and grow them out in a 60 and release them back where I caught em.

Really? Weird, would've thought if the SB was a different specie that the FBB would be too. So what's the difference between a white bass and a stripped bass then? Because they look identical to me atleast.
White bass are panfish shaped stay relatively small. Stripers are huge in comparison. both can be hybridized to produce "wipers" but they are infertile.
Huh neat. So kinda like how bluegill can cross with small mouth and make a green sunfish.

Yeah my gfp here always told me to just kill em because they were a hybrid fish that was out competing the native sunfish species. Never really killed any on purpose but sometimes couldn't be helped when they swallowed the hook. Only fish I ever caught and killed were asain carp in the river out here. Them carp are everywhere now and it sucks.Really? That's surprising

They may be non native to your part of the state but other than that their a great fish. My preferred bait for catfish honestly. They stay alive for quite a long time on the hook
