Atleast its a Rhom.. Im sure there are many 13"+ rhoms on this site.. And there keepers more then likely would like to be known for breeding rhoms.. Brandtiis on the other hand are few and far between at any size.. ANd then you hafta convince there keeper to try to breed or sell..

yeah, there's just alot of guesswork involved, but at least you have one half of the puzzle figured out... most people don't even get that far

this is very true...that's why i would hate to not at least attempt it.

whats wrong with people asking stupid questions?
thats how people learn
if u get tired of seeing the same questions over and over then your mentally lazy
you dont have to answer every question
you dont even have 100 comments yet so i dont think u shud be talking

alright guys, lets keep things peaceful here.

i have no problems with answering the same questions over and over again, i actually have alot of respect for the newcomers in this hobby who are putting in the effort to learn about the fish they have or are planning on purchasing. i know that newcomers could find the answer to most of their questions by doing a bit of digging, but sometimes that initial post with the questions about the basics is a good way to get them involved in the forum. i would much rather answer the same question everyday than have people out there not know what they are doing and provide improper care for their fish.

cepon3, from what i can tell, you're a good guy and i am in no way flaming you, just offering a different viewpoint on the situation.

let's keep this forum inviting for anyone who may have questions, regardless of how many times their questions have been asked in the past.

My apologies.. i kind of lost my temper.. I just do not understand why im beeing called mentally lazy.. i am not claiming that i know everything and i, like all must ask questions.. Why my post count was brought up is beyond me.. im here to try and help out fellow fish keepers and try and learn more myself.. the whole conversation was dropped 3 posts in and went on to bigger and better things.. i cleared what i said up by restating that i thought the repetition of questions clogs the Piranha forum up and some of the more in depth topics never get touched upon.. the fact that this kid called me mentally lazy when im here trying to help others out and can probably can teach him a thing or two got me a bit mad.. because even tho i think theres alot of clutter here i always post up and answer most of the questions asked.. but like i said.. my apologies

it's all good man, knowledge has nothing to do with age or post counts... i am only 22 and have under 400 posts here and i knew the same amount of stuff when i only had one post, so i see where you're coming from.

posts dont mean ur inteligent
thats not what i was saying
posts show how long uve been on this site
and how long you will be on the site in a way
not egzactly but in a w3ay
so i dont think it matter that people ask "dumb questions" because your not on all the time to answer
as for my barking fish thread
how am i supposed to know fish bark?
and as for u calling me profanities
people use profanities because they cant think of anything else to say
some adult u are
it dosent matter if im 15
it could be posible that i am more inteligent thatn you
im not saying i am
but its posible
i dont care what kind of degrees u have is any
some adult you are
and i understand that u lost ur temper
but thats not the way an adult should talk
especially if im 15
thats a reason to not talk 2 me that way

Whatever man.. i dropped it.. like i said im sorry for flippin out on you.. but just like you dun like to be cursed at i dont like to be insulted either..anyways, if you have any questions about fish or anything like that feel free to ask.. and if you know anything about the topics we speak about on the piranha forum feel free to jump in with any imput.. by the way the sound that you hear when you pull your catfish out of water is the sound they make when they compress their swim bladders.. alot of cats will do that aswell as fully erect their fins when stressed. hope that helps.. btw im not mentally lazy in the least bit..

Anthony

my rhom makes that same croaking sound when she is out of the water. i have heard other fish make that sound before, but had no idea rhoms could do it.

Just to add, i spawned a pair of reds over and over in a 30 gal using a plastic mesh divider to seperate them while the female was developng new eggs else they would fight pretty hard although they got on fine prior to breeding condition, (same as you would with Malawi cichids for example) , tho i used a divider made from a bread basket to let plenty of water flow between the pair and removed it when the female was ripe again.

Also i thought the id of fish species had something to do with the bone count which is why the diamond rhom and black rhom is identical?
