What the best way to redo the decor in your tank with minimum fish and bacteria loss? Is it best to put fish in bucket? Or lower water enough to do what you wanna do? I have a pretty heavily stocked 55g and I want to change the gravel to a course sand which will help my corys and loaches but don't know what's the best way to do so.

You could turn off filters, and use a strainer to try remove the bulk of the gravel, then possibly syphon out the remaining gravel if possible...

From there its a matter of rinsing off new gravel really well and placing it into the tank...

I did this, it works out just fine to remove stuff. I would drain completely, rescape, refill and re acclimate your fish. I would also keep your media in a bucket to keep it alive
