Real or Fake

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I prefer live, however some of my fish do not, and therefore I use fake. It is much easier in my situation to "replant" fake ones, instead of getting another real one that they would quickly tear to shreads too.

I think that real is always better. We are trying to bring "nature" in. That does not mean day glow plastic plants and figures of sponge bob square pants. Nothing is more horrifying than seeing a couple of really cool fish living in some 80's pop art nightmare.

Also live plants eat up nitrates and put oxygen in the water!! I've never had to "fertilze" them and while they occasionally get nipped on I've had no real problem. Well actually... get plant weights $2 a great investment.

Here are some of Mine. Tell me what you think....

Since you had to ask I thank you for the compliment. They are fake.

From a distance, the foreground plants look real but the front ones are easy to distinguish. Also, why did you mix koi with discus?:screwy:

Anyhoo, I once had a small tank with a few fake plants only to save from storing them. I hate plastic plants in any of my tanks and live are all for me. I also enjoy seeing my plants thrive and grow.

It used to be all live a long time ago but got to be too much work...

As far as Discus and koi... I like keeping odd species together as long as they get along, makes for interesting scenery.

SCANS both pictures look great, well done, the black gravel makes it look alot better to veiw then if it was a lighter colour in my opinion.
