really confused on this beardie thing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just use a heavy slate rock or something for all of my skinks... should stay warm throughout the night when the lamps go off.

when i had mine i had sand substrate, uv light, branches for climbing on pieces of bark to hide under, spot lamp and a heat lamp which was connected to a habistat thermostat with a button on so you could drop the night time temperature automatically to stimulate nature, if you get a baby one be careful about feeding mealworms as they supposedly can eat there way out of them but i never had any problems

beleive it or not, when I first raise babies back in the day,I had a few die with a small hole in the stomach. Then I heard about that and stopped with the meal worms and went to small crix or just bigger than pins.Could have been the meal worms,I always blamed it on John Carpenters 'The Thing'.

hey I forgot about something you should watch out for.If you use a substrate it can dig in,any rocks or bricks you use make sure to sink them so that they touch the bottom.I had a male dig under a cynder block and it crushed him dead.

this is what i just cant seem to understand
how many lights is that all together
dont they make a fixture that has heat and light?
and is it neccessary to have a night light
my moms goin crazy over the light bill
3 fish tanks allready

you can get a heat lamp that produces light...but you are going to want to get one that produces UVB aswell. Depending on the product is 2 lights. You can also get a nocturnal light that makes 3 lights.

Light #1 Day light heat lamp
Light #2 Some sort of UVB producinging light (maybe able to combine 1 and 2 lights into 1)
Light #3 Nocturnal heat lamp.

Estimated 3 Lights
