what about some sort of conure? I used to have a half-moon conure but there are all sorts and they can make great pets.
and here is a pic of my macaw:
conures are great, and sweet macaw! definatly to pricey for me though

the only reason i did not mention Conure was because the price is usually around $400 to $500 .. and they are noisy..your Mccaw is awesome
Yeah, most i've seen cost alot.. but still, they're awesome!

My personal favorites are toucans and Ara ararauna... but both are well out of your price range. Oh, and make sure you don't pick a bird thats too noisy, your parents might get ticked if you pick a bird that randomly screams at midnight and the crack of dawn- many do.
Yeah, toucans are 10k+ if I remember correctly.

$200 really limits your choice on parrots.
A smaller African would fit your wants nicely, such as a Meyers or Senegal (I had a Senegal, wonderful bird).
Good luck with your search!

The local place has an AWESOME hand fed senegal.. it is really really cool. It's $600 though

Also keep in mind bids have varying lifes spans.
Quakeers can be very noisy at times, mine gets real noisy if he is being ignored, they also can be very protective of their favorite people. Mine will come out of his cage and attack people if they are standing to close to me,including the dog.
I am willing to give a bird lots of attention

Quakeers are decent talkers with a big vocabulary, including short phrases, mine picked up "Stop the video I've got to go pee " from my mom. He also mimics the birds outside the house, including the local screech owl. If you want the best talker go for an african grey, sister has one and if you are not in the room you can not tell if it is the bird or her talking.
That's really cool!
Ok, so I'm thinking of-
Parakeet, could get for $25 at local place, really cool
Conure, more expensive but also really cool
Dove, very cheap and extremely quite, not exactly a rainbow of colors but my school had one and it was so friendly towards people
Few other options
Lorikeet would still be my favorite to have (Green Naped or Swainson's Mountain Blue

) but I don't know if I should go for it, considering they have so many dietary requirements. I could get one for $150+ shipping.
