RED SAND???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is where I got the sand for my tanks. Great stuff, I never even washed it, just swirled it a bit to get bubbles off a some grains. The Floral is heavy and since its made for plant drainage there's space between the grains. Doesn't compact like play sand and drops to the bottom. You can use their calculator, but you'll need less than the 'standard' amount. My 225 only has between 80 and 100 lbs and that's enough for 1" - 1 1/2" inches.

I finally ordered the Barton sand how red is it??? I really want the most out of my bichirs colors

Barton 36cg is probably the nicest quality garnet sand out there. Here is an old pic of when I used Barton 36cg. Of course the shade can vary depending on your light.

Colors I have used/are using now with the Sandtastik

baja blue (Kong's tank)
caribbean mist (Main tank/225, all other tanks now)
sour apple (Patch's tank, previous)
Patch currently has a mix of mostly carribbean mist with small amounts of baja blue

considering changing out the color in Patch's tank

Do bichirs care what color their light is or what do they prefer most
color wise I don't think they care too much but they definitely prefer dimmer lights. Most will probably try to hide when light is bright.
