Great fish. To bad they are pretty infertile....

I had a question for all you sev owners. My red spot is about 1.5 years old and is about 7 inches nose to tail. My Rotkeil is 2.5 years old and about 7 inches as well. I always hear that the heros can get 12 inches. Really? I mean really? I've never seen a red spot much more than 7 inches.
Thoughts on sizes?

with time and an adequate aquarium they will. ive seen a breeding pair of red sevs that were huge!! like dinner plate size and priced at $500 for the pair
It's actually a red terror wich used to run the tank but he would never get in the severums way . The severum used to do what ever he wanted

I'll have to get a good pic with a tape measurer of my big gold he's over 8" I'd say just from eye balling

I can't get a up close shot
Of the gold for an exact measurement but I measured the Oscar and he's a hair over 12" and the gold is probably 2 or 3" shorter tip to tail.

Small "red spot" severum I bought on New Years Day. Not much bigger than a half dollar. Tried my best with the pic...I can never get my fish to hold still for pictures, plus I took it with my Ipad.
Have the same issue! My fish never stay still!!!
