i got them 2 or 3 times, first time died of ich, second time got eaten by petco's red texas lol.

As long as the Red Terror is way smaller than the other fish, you have a chance......but they are extremely aggresive fish by nature. Good Luck!

Well, one of the first question that comes to mind is what size tank are you trying to put these fish in? Besides that, a festae will beat the hell out of an oscar of equal size, and possibly a jd. It really would depend more on the size of the tank, you could probably get away with it in a larger tank but in the 100 gallon range you're asking for trouble

most of the festae i have owned have been killed these fish arent hardly as aggressive as people try to make them. i still have one female in the tank with a pike cichlid a golden dorado a chaca chaca catfish a purple spot sleeper goby and a pleco and the festae is all the way at the bottom of the food chain i dont think this one will make it either. i think people have to justify why they paid so much for a festae so the create storys of them being super aggressive but ive had 2 breeding pairs of festae and raised quite a few festae fry and the arent all that my dovii and black nasty fry kill of the festae every time. the females are one of the best looking cichlids that there is but not as mean as they say. you should be fine in a 125 the thing you have to worry about is the clown knife when he gets large

also riverdale pets in wash dc had a huge breeding pair of festae that both got there buts handed to them by a smaller jack dempsey

Hopefully you get a female! I just recently acquired a 6 inch WC female, looks awesome! She is a bit more aggressive than what I replaced her with (7 inch female jack dempsey). However, I also have a 8 inch male Trimac that she doesn't dare bother!

BTW, has anyone ever seen Trimac(male) x Red Terror(female) fry? I would think they look awesome!

if you dont think festae can be aggressvie toward other fish you have not owned enough of them. i would say a smaller sizes there pretty mellow but once there big adults they can be downright mean. a festae thats as equal size of your stock could deff take them all out if he wanted. once they get up in that 10-14 inch range all heck could break loose. you could try it if you wanted but its a risk.

My Festae are pretty civil with one another. They all tend to respect individual boundaries except for the big male. He goes where ever he wants and everyone else just gets out of the way. Their behavior is totally different toward other fish. They killed every dither that I have tried. A synspillus equal to their size only lasted one day. Like all fish there will be exceptions. But I believe most people will agree that Festae can be very hostile especially when they become large adults. You just need to be prepared for the chance that your Festae will be hostile. Have a bail out tank or divider on hand. I have only had mine for a few months so my experience level with Fetsae is mostly from what I've observed in my tank. There are quite a few guys on here that know a lot more about the behavior of these fish like VRWC and Fishguts. They've answered a lot of questions for me.
