Mine is hardy as can be and I know where Julie gets them from. I am friends with the Thai seller. That seller has nice colored parents, but hardly any Kok. No Kok by 3 is 1st generation Thai silk.

Mine is very hardy.. eats very well and presently breeding with female titanium.

I'm going to take a guess and say that silks are probably like ebjd, not very hardy at a younger age.

I'm going with RT, i've always wanted a stunner, but i can't find the one i want, but for now i have my fader kk. I would take that guy in that picture, or the beast that mick kamfa had a while back. I find it harder to find a good red texas compared to a good silk. IMO, i would pay $50 for a silk, max, but i prefer to buy them smaller, grow them up, sell them and make a little money off them and keep the best looking one.

Titaniums are heavely line-bred so physical deformities are common and all-around weaker fish are alot more present. Especially if you are just buying random fry, I would wait till 4-5in mark just to make sure everything is in check. Thats why I dont mind paying over $100 for good quality.
What Ive come to understand is that Titaniums are not new. They have been around for quite sometime but they havent always looked like they have now. Flowerhorns are relatively new the US so we havent gotten to experience or document much of anything in the progression.
A FH Guru once told me they were just line bred POTO's (pearl of the orient) That term isnt used over here very much, But I beleive its a full pearl ZZ. Correct me if im wrong. I think these Titaniums that are around now are a direct result of inbreeding POTO's with full pearl Kamfas.
