I was wondering if you had algae or not.3wpg is an awful lot of light to not have CO2.
You could probably just take out half your bulbs, and that should help with it.I would try turning off all but 1 of the 48'' 6500k,and one of the 2400k and see what that does.If it seems like the plants start to die off, turn on another 6500k.
Or you could just add some pressurized CO2 :naughty:

I forgot about that. I have 1 oto cinclus.
I've been looking at Co2, but they are so expensive. Atleast for me only being a kid. But if you can recomend some in-expensive systems I'll look into it. Christmas is just around the corner...
I'll look at ajusting the lights.

Oh, yeah. you mentioned that you used that suff earlier in the thread. I think that a local fish store sells that. With the angel fish babys that I have I can sell the rest them to the store and use the store credit to bye the flourish excel!!! :) Problem solved, for now!

Don't want to get it from that site, $6 of excel and $13 of shipping is not worth it, I can get it at the place for $10, I think.

The algea in the tank is horrible on the back of the tank. But it gives my angel fish something to snack on. But there is some algea that grows on the anubias's, rocks that I have in the tank, but it comes off very, very easily when I rub the leaves. The stuff is black/brown. No algea on the swords. and the new leaves that the swords have gotten are very low to the grown and don't branch out. I think that they are still transitioning...

I attached some pics of the swords and algea.

I have the same kind of "deposits" on some of my plants as you do on your anubias. I just figured it was debris that gathered on the more porous plants. Is that algae? Because mine usually rubs right off. HUHMMMMM......

My swords shoot new growth like that, too. Leaves first, then stems.

A DIY CO2 should help quite a bit, though it isn't really a permanent solution for a 75gal. theplantedtank.net has a good article on DIY CO2, and a cheap CO2 ladder you can find at your LFS (also not very expensive). The DIY is a cheap and easy way top get SOME extra CO2 in there, though I would still shoot for a pressurized system for X-mas.
That is the way I did it at least. When I was in high school I did a DIY (that I made using instructions from planted tank) w/ ladder and then upgraded on X-mas. But seriously, that is an insane amount of algae growth. And in the long run Co2 injection (pressurized or DIY) is gonna be cheaper than dosing w/ excel.

Nice angels btw. :)

Oh, and I would get more ottos! Those little guys are AMAZING! I can't have them b/c my bichir thinks they are snacks >:( , but they are the green burrito when it comes to algae eating.

Thanks. I like them to. Two of them I hatched from eggs.
Ok, I'll check out the thing for the DIY Co2. I'm guessing I would need like 4 2 liter bottles... that is what some one said. The problem is that the ones that my LFS sell are like $20. So I will have to save up for that.

About how many Ottos do you think I should get 8?

I think that I will be ordering the plants today some time!! Yay! :)

Thank you guys for helping out a 13yr old who had a lot of questions. You people are very patient.

I tried to check out the website but it didn't work....?

For the web address I was putting in theplantedtank.net
but It is realy plantedtank.net
I'll look at the article now.

Like fishbum said, I think decreasing the amount of light will be a good idea for algae control while you're saving for a ladder diffuser.

Sorry about the web address, it is in my Favorites as "The Planted Tank". I should have double checked. Sorry :)

Eight ottos sounds good. I like to always keep more than one type of each fish if they are schooling/ community fish. Three is my personal minimum, but 8 is completely fine if that's how many you want. They are active lttle guys. Fun to watch.

Have fun ordering your plants!

Yeah, What I didn't understand was if I should only have 1 bulb of 2,400K and 1 bulb of 6,500K, or if I should have 2 of each? Just made another 2 liter bottle to put Yeast mixture in. Glue is very sticky!...

It's finalised. Just orderd the plants. Here is a list of the plants I'm getting!
Anubias hastifolia
Anubias coffefolia
red tiger lotus
Wisteria 2
Green Ozelot
Wendtii Green 2
Wendtii Red 2

I can't wait. The sad thing is that the shipping is so expencive!!!!!
